CANON INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: The Knight
CANON: Hollow Knight
HISTORY: Wiki

STRENGTHS:
- Naturally Curious. They tend to learn most things through trial and error (mostly error, lbr), and have a knack for finding secrets or getting into some unusual places. If something looks interesting, they will do anything to figure out what it is. If there is a gap to cross or a puzzle to solve they will do their best to figure it out, sometimes not in the most conventional way.

- Humble, Honorable. Despite constantly having to fight they don't ever seem to really want to (unless there's Orange). Even going a bit out of their way to do favors others like delivering very fragile flowers all the way across the map. And in many cases, doesn't have many wants or needs of their own. A simple bench will do, maybe some hot water.

- Refusal to give up. Both physically and emotionally. They have been through much, including what happened to most of their kind, making tough decisions, seen the infection spread, and much more. Yet despite that they still continue to keep going. And presumably will always keep moving forward until they finish whatever it is they chose to do.

FLAWS:
- Mute. "No voice to cry suffering." The Knight cannot speak, or make much of any noise for that matter, thus making it difficult to communicate much with anyone. Other characters do bring up the fact that they don't seem to be very talkitive. Thankfully no one seems too bothered by it though.

- Amnesiac. Doesn't remember anything about themselves, and...quite frankly would have been better off staying that way. Some do know who (or rather what) they are but aren't so willing to tell, adding much more to the mystery factor.

- Small. Their size is something brought up often and it likely does get in the way some times, but it is something they are well used to. Even their nail is significantly shorter compared to what everyone else uses, and always puts them at a disadvantage. The only great thing about it is enemies do think they are a weak opponent and are caught off guard. The downside though, they always got to work harder for it.

AU INFORMATION

AU CHARACTER NAME: Was never given a name or doesn't remember. Would probably pick up a name for themselves later in game.
AGE: Noooo one really knows. Presumably not old.
GRADE: No grade level given since their inclusion is in such a grey area as it is. Not a traditional student in the slightest (or technically a student at all) but at the same time being taught very basic things. The Academy is more like an actual home currently than a temporary one.

AU BACKSTORY:
- Has no idea who or where they came from, only appeared in the Outlands one day and just fought to survive. Managed to do that one thing surprisingly well despite knowing much else.

- Eventually was discovered by a couple of scholarly, scientist mage types who were simply studying the wildlife in the area. Never once had they seen something quite like the bug child before, or anything recorded about it. So they began to observe them more closely.

- Eventually discovering that they were made out of void. This is actually kind of great. Void has had some association to Nightfall, so it's possible if they could learn more about how it works they could find even more ways to combat it, with a better chance of stopping Nightfall completely. But it would have to be done someplace else.

- Bug gets caught in trap and stuffed into a box cage. Daybreak seemed like the right place to send them to, the one place where this sort of research would be more useful. (With or without knowing the second Herald was already being held captive there. Another void baby.)

- Daybreak received the very angry package (and some brave soul had to open it), and could sort of tell that the child inside was in fact...a child. There was some internal debate about what they were planning to do was moral or not. (Especially again, after sparing the Herald)

- Bug won't be sacrificed to science, but they will still be watched for now. Also worked on getting them a little more socialized.

- Only after they passed the good bug test and was more acclimated to the Academy were they allowed to explore a little more and meet students.

AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: There's hardly much, as their canon point would've been before they returned back to Hallownest. But this version has had less socialization though and more used to running on primitive instinct than logic. Much more feral in some ways, since everything they do know had been pretty much self taught, and failing to understand much else. Lots of fight or flight built up from trying not to die from regular fantasy monsters in the Outlands.

However they are very adaptable and a fast learner. Modern technology and a school setting probably means they would eventually outpace their OU self in terms of intelligence and skill.

RACE: A bug-like fae of questionable origin, comprised mostly of void magic/void itself
SECRET SOCIETY: No affiliations with anyone currently. Just bug.

POWERS: Besides being capable of wielding a nail, they don't really have any other skills at the moment. Advanced nail arts, spells, and other misc abilities are things they are likely to learn as they naturally grow (charms being the one exception). For the most part, spells are cast with their own internal magic resource. But if in a pinch or feeling weak in general, they can use the nail to drain out some life force of other living things to use instead. Or store it as a backup reserve.

HOUSING: Lives on campus but I imagine somewhere separate from the dorms, for their own and others safety. A sort of bug pen, if you will (Where they can be easily spoiled monitored more closely by faculty).
